Perfection is not desirable?

(2 min read) It's the hidden trap that's stopping you from starting

Hey,

Let's talk about a subconscious belief that's likely holding you back right now.

"I need to know exactly what I’m doing before I start."

Wrong.

And I’ll explain why…

Being a perfectionist doesn’t mean you have high standards. ❌

It means you’re letting fear of failure win. 😨

It's just fear wearing a fancy mask.

And for us ADHDers, it's especially dangerous because ⚠️

→ We already struggle with getting started 🚦

→ We tend to think in all-or-nothing terms ⚖️

→ We've often been told we’re incredibly gifted in childhood and have been given unrealistic standards to stick to 📚

For years, I wouldn't start anything unless I could see the perfect path to completion.

Guess how many projects I actually finished?

Zero. Nada. Zilch.

Because here's the thing about perfection:

→ It's impossible to achieve 🎯

→ It paralyzes you from taking action ⛓️

→ It makes you miss actual opportunities 😔

But everything changed when I learned this simple truth:

Clarity beats complexity every. single. time.

Think about it:

→ A messy plan you actually follow > A perfect plan you don't

→ Small achievable milestones every day > Big goals that overwhelm you

→ Starting before you're ready > Waiting for the perfect moment

You don’t want to create a plan that’s so rigid that it leaves no room for your ADHD brain’s craving for freedom and creativity.

You want one in the sweet spot that facilitates that.

Let me show you what this looks like in practice:

One of my clients, Alex, was stuck in "planning mode" for 6 months.

Why? She wanted everything to be "just right" before launching her service.

So, we tried a different approach (for our different brains):

→ Created a "good enough" version of her offer

→ Set a non-negotiable launch date

→ Focused on progress over perfection

She made more in her "imperfect" first month than she had in the previous six months of planning 📈

Because she finally did the one thing that matters most:

She started.
