Why ADHD Brains Fail at Planning Long-term 👀

(3 min read) The real reason your goals fall apart every January - and how to fix it.

Happy new year legends!

Quick question.

When was the last time you actually stuck to a New Year's resolution?

You never have, have you?

Don’t beat yourself up… there’s a reason…

Your ADHD brain is literally wired to struggle with long-term planning.

But no one's ever explained why, have they?

Well, I will lay it out clearly.

Because I want to help you make 2025 the year you stop living client to client.

The year you stop refreshing your phone to check for stripe notifications.

The year you stop surviving, and start thriving instead.

So, over the next 7 days, I'm going to share exactly how to make 2025 different.

Not through generic productivity hacks or "just try harder" advice.

But through understanding how your unique brain actually works.

Let’s start with a quick reminder:

Your ADHD brain processes time differently than everyone else's. Seriously.

For us, there are only two time zones:

NOW (like, right this second) ✅

NOT NOW (might as well be never) ❌

This is why sitting down to plan an entire year feels impossible.

Your brain literally can't process time that far ahead.

And if you manage to muster out a plan. It NEVER comes to fruition.

It's also why you:

→ Struggle to break down big goals into smaller steps 🫠

→ Get overwhelmed just thinking about long-term planning 😒

→ Start strong but lose steam by February 📉

→ Jump from goal to goal without finishing anything 🎯

Well, here's what nobody tells you:

Annual planning is hard because its working against your brain's natural wiring.

Dopamine is the captain of your ADHD brain. So, your brain needs frequent wins and regular rewards to stay motivated.

So a 12 month goal? That's like trying to drive cross-country on a single tank of gas.

Spoiler: you’re not making it bud.

The solution? The sweet spot for ADHD Brains?

Quarterly sprints 🏃‍♀️

90 days is:

→ Long enough to achieve something meaningful ⌛️

→ Short enough to maintain focus 🧠

→ Perfect for building sustainable momentum 💪

Think about it.

You don't need a perfect 12-month plan.

You need a clear 90-day sprint that excites you enough to take action NOW.

This isn't theory. I've helped hundreds of ADHD entrepreneurs turn their businesses around using this exact approach.

And if you wanna learn how to plan for 2025 in a way that actually works for your brain help,

I’ll help you too, for free.

This coming Saturday (11th Jan), I’m hosting a completely Free 2025 ADHD Planning Workshop

In this, I'll show you:

→ How to break down your goals into dopamine-friendly sprints 🏃‍♂️

→ The exact system I use to maintain focus (even with ADHD) 🧠

→ Why traditional planning fails ADHD brains (and what to do instead) 💪

👉 Just reply to this email with “PLAN” and I’ll send you the link.

Over the next 6 days, I'll share more insights about working with (not against) your ADHD brain to build the business you know you're capable of.

Tomorrow, we'll dive into why motivation isn't the problem (and what actually is).

Talk soon,

Ian
